Useful Information

Our F1 Nursery class is split into N1 who we call Caterpillars and N2 who we call Butterflies.

Each child will need a school bag to carry their reading book and diary to and from school each day in. We ask that parents share the reading books at home with their child and log this in their diary a minimum of 3 times per week.

We have purpose built, child height toilets and sinks. We encourage children to use the toilet independently. We can help support your child with toilet training, please let us know if you think your child might need extra support. We ask that all children have a change of clothes in their bag, we do however have spares just incase.

PE for Nursery is on a Thursday morning. All children are asked to come to school in their PE kit.

We teach phonics daily in Foundation. We follow Letters and Sounds, which is a high-quality systematic synthetic phonics programme of proven effectiveness. In Nursery, we learn Phase 1. In Phase 1 of the DfE’s Letters and Sounds program, children focus on developing their speaking and listening skills. They listen to the sounds around them developing their auditory and visual discrimination. We also begin to develop their oral blending and segmenting  skills. We will send out further information on how to support your child at home with their learning.
