School Council Selection Process

At the start of each school year all children are given the opportunity to become a school council member.

Children interested in the position are asked to make a small presentation to their own class on why they would like to be a school council member and why they would make a suitable representative.

Each class then votes for 2 boys and 2 girls which are then interviewed by last years members.

All candidates are asked the same questions, some examples are :

  • What is school council and why are they an important part of school?
  • Why do you want to become a school council member?
  • What strengths do you think you need to become a successful member?
  • If school council were to be given some funding what would you spend the money on?
  • Can we improve our school, if so how?

The previous year's school council then have a discussion and come to a decision on who to appoint as the representatives.

The new School Council is announced in the next Friday celebration assembly.
