Each child has been given two SATs revsion booklets, please use these to support with homework and revision. It will also show which methods we are using to solve : + - division and x

The class are given two pieces of homework each week.  The homework will be combination of  either Literacy, numeracy, science or theme work.

Literacy

Every child in Year 6 is expected to be reading EVERY day at home, this is essential to imporve fluency and understanding of texts. Every child has an "Accellerated Reading" book to read which has been selected based on thier individual reading ability. Children in year 6 are expected to read at least a book a week and complete their quiz. The children require an average score of 85% to pass their quizes.

We are taking part in the 'Reading At Home Challenge' and every time the children read, they can colour a letter on their bookmark. This must be signed by a parent/carer.

Numeracy

We are currently having a big push on mental maths skills and it would be beneficial for your child if you could spend some time on  the following, at the same time making it fun.

  • Times tables 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and  12.  Ideally the children should be able to chant the full table, but also remember them out of order quickly, i.e. 6 x 6 = 36, 5 x 9 = 45, 4 x 8 = 32, etc. etc.
  • Children should also know the corresponding division facts.

The children recieve a weekly times tables test, usually on a Thursday, copies of the test are always available for the children to use at home for additional practice.
