Model rockets were made by five and six year olds at Stanstead Primary to enter into a year one competition.
There were eight entries into the contest which was eventually won by Mollie Bilbie-Stone, five, from Top Valley.
Mollie said: "I felt so happy when I found out I had won.
"The best bit about making my model was sticking on the flags."
The contest was judged by Stanstead's School Council as one of its many duties.
The council meets regularly to discuss ways of improving the school. It includes two children from each class in years three, four, five and six.
Every class holds an election and votes for two councillors to represent them for a term.
Ashley Biggs, ten, said: "The School Council is a good idea because they represent our thoughts."
